رهبر انقلاب معظم با اشاره به موفقیت‌های بزرگ سوریه در میادین سیاسی و نظامی گفتند: سوریۀ امروز سوریۀ قبل از جنگ نیست، اگرچه آن زمان خرابی‌ها نبود اما احترام و اعتبار سوریه اکنون بسیار بیشتر از گذشته است و همه به این کشور به‌عنوان یک قدرت نگاه می‌کنند.
حضرت آیت‌الله خامنه‌ای رهبر معظم انقلاب اسلامی امروز (یکشنبه) در دیدار آقای بشار اسد رئیس‌جمهور سوریه و هیئت همراه، مقاومت و ایستادگی ملت و نظام سوریه و پیروزی در یک جنگ بین‌المللی را زمینه‌ساز افزایش اعتبار و سرافرازی سوریه دانستند و تأکید کردند: با توجه به روحیه و نشاط و اراده بالا در شخص رئیس‌جمهور و دولت ایران برای گسترش همکاری‌ها با سوریه، باید تلاش کرد روابط دو کشور بیش از گذشته ارتقاء یابد.

حضرت آیت‌الله خامنه‌ای با تأکید بر اینکه “امروز رئیس‌جمهور و ملت سوریه نزد ملت‌های منطقه سرافراز هستند”، افزودند: برخی از سران کشورهای همسایه ما و شما، با سران رژیم صهیونیستی نشست و برخاست دارند و با یکدیگر قهوه می‌نوشند اما مردم همین کشورها در روز قدس خیابان‌ها را از جمعیت و شعار ضدصهیونیستی پر می‌کنند و این واقعیت امروز منطقه است.
ایشان عوامل متعددی را در مقاومت و پیروزی سوریه در جنگ بین‌المللی تأثیرگذار دانستند و خطاب به آقای اسد خاطرنشان کردند: یکی از مهمترین این عوامل، روحیه بالای شخص جنابعالی است و ان‌شاءالله با همین روحیه بتوانید ویرانی‌های جنگ را نیز بازسازی کنید زیرا کارهای بزرگی پیشِ‌روی شما قرار دارد.
رهبر انقلاب همچنین با گرامی‌داشت یاد و خاطره شهید سردار سلیمانی، گفتند: آن شهید بزرگوار تعصّب خاصی به سوریه داشت و به‌معنی واقعی کلمه فداکاری می‌کرد و رفتار او در سوریه با رفتارش در دفاع مقدس هشت‌ساله ایران تفاوتی نداشت.
ایشان افزودند: شهید سلیمانی و دیگر برجستگان سپاه از جمله شهید همدانی، واقعاً با جان و دل تلاش می‌کردند و به موضوع سوریه همچون یک وظیفه و واجب مقدس می‌نگریستند.
حضرت آیت‌الله خامنه‌ای تأکید کردند: این پیوند و ارتباط برای هر دو کشور حیاتی است و نباید بگذاریم ضعیف شود بلکه باید آن را هرچه ممکن است تقویت کنیم.
ایشان با اشاره به اظهار دوستی و محبت برخی کشورهایی که در سال‌های گذشته در جبهه مقابل سوریه قرار داشتند، افزودند: باید از تجربه‌های گذشته، خط آینده را روشن کرد.
رهبر انقلاب، روحیه و نشاط رئیس‌جمهور سوریه را زمینه‌ساز انجام کارهای بزرگ برشمردند و گفتند: شخص رئیس‌جمهور و دولت جمهوری اسلامی ایران نیز واقعاً بانشاط و دارای روحیه و اراده بالایی هستند و به موضوع سوریه اهتمام و انگیزه جدی دارند که باید از این فرصت برای ارتقاء بیش از پیش روابط دو کشور استفاده کرد.
در این دیدار که حجت‌الاسلام رئیسی رئیس‌جمهور نیز حضور داشت، آقای بشار اسد با تشکر از مواضع و حمایت‌های ملت و دولت ایران و همچنین با گرامی‌داشت یاد شهید سلیمانی، گفت: ایستادگی و مواضع پایدار ایران در 4 دهه گذشته در مسائل منطقه و به‌ویژه موضوع فلسطین، به همه مردم منطقه نشان داد که راه ایران، راه درست و اصولی است.
رئیس‌جمهور سوریه خاطرنشان کرد: خرابی‌های جنگ را می‌توان بازسازی کرد اما اگر مبانی و اصول از بین بروند، قابل بازسازی نیستند و ایستادگی ملت ایران بر مبانی و اصول امام خمینی(ره) که با همت جنابعالی نیز ادامه یافت، زمینه‌ساز پیروزی‌های بزرگ ملت ایران و مردم منطقه به‌ویژه مردم فلسطین شد.
آقای بشار اسد افزود: برخی تصور می‌کنند حمایت ایران از جبهه مقاومت، حمایت تسلیحاتی است در حالی که مهمترین حمایت و کمک جمهوری اسلامی، دمیدن روحیه مقاومت و استمرار آن است.
رئیس‌جمهور سوریه در پایان تأکید کرد: آنچه باعث شد رژیم صهیونیستی نتواند بر منطقه حاکم شود، روابط راهبردی ایران و سوریه است که باید با قدرت ادامه یابد.
