رییس هیات کاراته گنبدکاووس گفت: مسابقات کاراته قهرمانی کشور انتخابی تیم ملی با حضور هزار و ۵۰۰ ورزشکار به میزبانی این شهرستان برگزار می‌شود.
احمد صفرخانی روز شنبه در گفت و گویی اظهارداشت: این مسابقات در سه گروه سنی نوجوانان، جوانان و امید در ۱۵ وزن و ۲ بخش مبارزه (کمیته) و کاتا(حرکات نمایشی) روزهای دوم تا چهارم مرداد ویژه دختران و ششم تا هشتم مرداد ویژه پسران در محل سالن ورزشی دانشگاه آزادشهر اسلامی گنبدکاووس برگزار می‌شود و خوابگاه دانشگاه دولتی برای اسکان افراد شرکت کننده در نظر گرفته شد.
وی افزود: ۵۷ نفر از پسران و ۳۲ نفر از دختران شرکت کننده در این مسابقات را ورزشکاران استان گلستان تشکیل می‌دهند.
رییس هیات کاراته گنبدکاووس ادامه داد: نفرات برتر این مسابقات برای اعزام به رقابت‌های جهانی ترکیه در آبان ماه امسال انتخاب خواهند شد.
صفرخوانی افزود: گنبدکاووس با داشتن حدود ۵۰۰ ورزشکار فعال در رشته کاراته از لحاظ مقام آوری بعد از علی‌آبادکتول و گرگان در جایگاه سوم استانی قرار دارد.
وی گفت: همچنین مسابقات سبک کن شین کان کاراته قهرمانی استان با شرکت ۱۳۰ ورزشکار در تمام رده‌های سنی ۱۰ تیرماه به مناسبت روز ازدواج به میزبانی گنبدکاووس و به همت هیات کاراته شهرستان در سالن تختی برگزار و به نفرات برتر احکام قهرمانی اهدا شد.
